Barton Fink is a 1991 American film, written, directed, and produced by the Coen brothers. Set in 1941, it stars John Turturro in the title role as a young New York City playwright who is hired to write scripts for a movie studio in Hollywood, and John Goodman as Charlie, the insurance salesman who lives next door at the run-down Hotel Earle. Barton Fink is a troubled New York playwright obsessed with bringing his new idea of "Theater of the Common Man" to the producers he loves to hate. After his first budding success his agent convinces him to travel to Los Angeles to write for Capital Pictures. When he arrives he checks into the dark Hotel Earle and meets with Capital Pictures President Jack Lipnick, who tells him of the movie he's writing: a B-Movie wrestling picture for Wallace Beery. Fink travels back to his hotel room to begin, but when he arrives he types one sentence and then falls into the horror of writer's block. He tries getting help from his neighbor, "Common Man" Charlie Meadows; famed writer Mayhew; Mayhew's girlfriend Audrey and producer Ben Geisler. But as Fink drifts further away from his script strange things start happening, and eventually two detectives show up at his door...

The coen brothers :

Joel David Coen (born November 29, 1954) and Ethan Jesse Coen^[ (born September 21, 1957) known together professionally as the Coen brothers, are American filmmakers. Their films include Blood Simple, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men, and True Grit. The brothers write, direct and produce their films jointly, although until recently Joel received sole credit for directing and Ethan for producing. They often alternate top billing for their screenplays while sharing film credits for editor under the alias Roderick Jaynes.

John Turturro:

John Michael Turturro (born February 28, 1957) is an Italian-American actor, writer and director known for his roles in the films Do the Right Thing(1989), Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Quiz Show (1994), The Big Lebowski (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) and the Transformers film series. He has appeared in over sixty films, and has worked frequently with the Coen brothers, Adam Sandler and Spike Lee.

John Goodman :

John Stephen Goodman (born June 20, 1952) is an American film, television, and stage actor. He is best known for his role as Dan Conner on the television series Roseanne (1988–1997) for which he won a Best Actor Golden Globe Award in 1993, and for providing the voice of Sully in Monsters, Inc. As a film actor, he has frequently collaborated with the Coen Brothers, including in Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

Two contrasting reviews of this record  

I-At last! R.E.M. have come up with an album to compare with their 'greats' of the past. Brand loyalty can come at a price, and R.E.M. have tested my patience with a series of disappointing albums, 'Accelerate' promised much but in reality just offered 4 or 5 good tracks and some really poor tracks also.
'Collapse Into Now' in many ways offers a similar style to 'Accelerate' but 12 of the 12 tracks hit the mark. I am not ready (yet!) to heap too much praise, but this could prove to be a truly great R.E.M. album. I guess my low expectations, might lead me to over state the quality of this album, but I need to go back to albums such as 'Up' and 'Reveal' to hear equivalent quality (and I hold both of these albums in very high esteem).
What is particularly impressive about 'Collapse Into Now' is the combination between the gentle and the more rocky tracks. This album flows beautifully and will probably satisfy all R.E.M. fans who have stuck with them over the disappointments of recent years.
So if you are hesitating in respect to this latest album, get out there now and buy your copy!

PS: This was indeed the final R.E.M. album, at least they went out on a positive note!! 

II- REM's creative decline in the last decade coincided with the loss of drummer Bill Berry and their apparent need to make more keyboardy and acoustic albums, rather than the elemental rock that made them such a 1980s/90s force. However, Collapse Into Now continues the return to form of 2008's Accelerate by rewinding to their old classics to relocate their mojo. The sublime Uberlin sounds a bit like Drive; magisterial opener Discoverer vaguely echoes Disturbance at the Heron House – and so on. Michael Stipe is even enjoying making wilfully enigmatic lyrics again ("I feel like an alligator coming up the escalator", anybody?) and there are some outstanding songs in the sincere, Katrina-aftermath ballad Oh My Heart and plangent Walk It Back. Collapse Into Now isn't groundbreaking, but feeling comfortable in their old skin has produced REM's best effort in years.

R.E.M. was an American rock band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1980 by singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry. One of the first popular alternative rock bands, R.E.M. gained early attention due to Buck's ringing, arpeggiated guitar style and Stipe's unclear vocals. R.E.M. released its first single, "Radio Free Europe", in 1981 on the independent record label Hib-Tone. The single was followed by the Chronic Town EP in 1982, the band's first release on I.R.S. Records. In 1983, the group released its critically acclaimed debut album, Murmur, and built its reputation over the next few years through subsequent releases, constant touring, and the support of college radio. Following years of underground success, R.E.M. achieved a mainstream hit in 1987 with the single "The One I Love". The group signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1988, and began to espouse political and environmental concerns while playing large arenas worldwide.
By the early 1990s, when alternative rock began to experience broad mainstream success, R.E.M. was viewed by subsequent acts such as Nirvana and Pavement as a pioneer of the genre and released its two most commercially successful albums, Out of Time (1991) and Automatic for the People (1992), which veered from the band's established sound. R.E.M.'s 1994 release, Monster, was a return to a more rock-oriented sound. The band began its first tour in six years to support the album; the tour was marred by medical emergencies suffered by three band members. In 1996, R.E.M. re-signed with Warner Bros. for a reported US$80 million, at the time the most expensive recording contract in history. The following year, Bill Berry left the band, while Buck, Mills, and Stipe continued the group as a trio. Through some changes in musical style, the band continued its career into the next decade with mixed critical and commercial success. In 2007, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. R.E.M. disbanded in September 2011, announcing the split on its website.

   Honestly, I dont like this song because is not the type of music that touch me  but I must say that the video  is quite funny and original and the message of the song is positive and encouraging. I'm not saying that this is bad music so i dont want te see coments like "If you dont like them you are nothing" or other offensive stuff. I think that the music is to corny, sweet, like " a cherry pie". The melodies are really simple, 4 open chords played with the guitar. There's to much keyboards  and also is a really repetitive melody. The drummer must by Ringo Star because the 3.30 minutes of the song he's playing the same slow rhythm, no fills, no bridges, no nothing, just an eternal ostinato. Also I think that they use a lot of sinthesizer and other electronic effects that try to hide the mediocrity of hte melody.

The lyrics arent good, just the chorus has a good message and is the heart of the song. "Every day is yours to win" is a good message, more in these days that societies are suffering depresion, mostly young people. The singularity of the message is to show that each one of us has a talent or a special quality that makes us amazing, uniques and "heros". it's a very positive and encouraging message. You must profit each day and became your own hero. 

the video also shows a message, thanks to new technologie we can became heros in the internet and be famous or maybe live thanks to internet. REM try to show that each one of us can enter by the Big Door in the celebrity world. There are few cases of people with their own chanel in youtube and the are famous beacause the have some especial qualities that make them funny or intrasting.

So I think that the message is:  we must find our talent to became our hero and also thanks to internet we can became the hero of a lot of people arond the world. That's the meaning of "win".

Hello, today I will talk about the impact of new technologies in our world and how it has changed our lives.
First I need to say that new technologies have invaded our world and our daily live. If we think about us, we can see that we almost all have smart-phones, computers of high level, plasma TV and other stuff. Also in the streets we can see technological things : the subway works thanks to the news technologies in the way that the train doesn’t need a driver. Thanks to those technologies we can think about their good things and their disadvantages.
Now I will talk about the good stuff of new technology. First, technologies make our life “better” and easier. For example, before internet, if you wanted to have some information you would have had to search in books, also if you wanted to say something to somebody you would have had to send him a letter or make a phone call because emails or chats didn’t exist. As well with new technologies we can have new types of stoves that work better than the gas ones, and cars, airplanes, ships had become more secure, faster and comfortable. Also new technologies have had an impact in the police departments because thanks to the new machines they can make things like in C.S.I or they can spy us from the space and we will never know it.
But it also new technologies present a number of problems. First a huge part of the world is addicted to the new technology; they are some cases of deaths. Also new technologies are really expensive and the companies that produce this stuff use marketing strategies to make the people buy new things that are not specially effective at very high prices. Also new technologies need mineral and natural resources so the world is taking a big risk producing this stuff, a big part of scientist talks about a “Global Warming”.
I think that new technologies really help our lives but there must be a control for everything. I’m against Global Warming and industries that have inflicted it to the world because they are killing us silently.
The video that I have inserted is a bit funny, we can see a man that is devoted to his computer and is putting the diaper over his child by using his foot. That show us, in an exaggerated way, how these new generations are really addicted to new technologies.

This has nothing about fishing but is homework :S

The fan is excited, he's is wearing a white T-shirt with an Internet symbol on it and he is asking for an autograph to the star. This character symbolises a geek. At the same time he is saying that he has pirated all his movies. This thing angers the star, and we can see that in the expression of his face. Also the girl that is close to the celebrity has an arrogant face. At the background we can see another couple of celebrities waving to the crowd, they are waking on the red carpet that characterise the glamour of this event.

This document focus on the idea that illegal downloads are destroying the films industry and also is damaging the copyright. In a way I'm pro this cartoon cause we are steeling others work but I think that in this way culture is more accessible to all the world and also is a free way of having fun. I think that maybe it must by control but not at the same degree as now, also download films have became a usual act of our life.
